Completely Redeveloped – Built to Perform

The MS 400.1 C-M is not a simple update. It has been engineered from the ground up, resulting in a lighter, more powerful, and more responsive chainsaw.

Weighing just 5.5 kg, the MS 400.1 C-M is 300 g lighter than its predecessor and features a reduced engine displacement of 62.6 cc. Despite this, it delivers an impressive 3.9 kW of power, achieving an outstanding power-to-weight ratio that enhances productivity throughout the working day.

High Torque for Demanding Cuts

A key advantage of the MS 400.1 C-M is its increased torque output. Producing 4.3 Nm of torque, compared to 4.1 Nm on the previous version, the saw maintains cutting performance under load.

When cutting large timber, the MS 400.1 C-M is less pressure-sensitive, helping to reduce the risk of bogging down mid-cut and delivering smoother, more consistent performance.

Advanced Engine Management with STIHL M-Tronic

The MS 400.1 C-M features STIHL’s latest M-Tronic engine management system, automatically adjusting engine performance to operating conditions.

This results in:

Improved Cooling and Handling

To support sustained use, the MS 400.1 C-M incorporates several design improvements aimed at durability and operator comfort.

A larger magnesium flywheel and an improved muffler design help regulate engine temperature during operation. The rear handle geometry has been refined for improved comfort, while the widened end profile allows the saw to rest securely against the leg, aiding controlled plunge cutting.

The compact overall design further enhances manoeuvrability, making the MS 400.1 C-M exceptionally easy to handle in demanding forestry environments.

Designed for Efficient Forestry Work

The optimised ribbed pattern on the underside of the saw allows it to glide smoothly along the trunk during snedding, reducing the likelihood of snagging on bark or branches.

A new HD2 air filter with increased surface area improves filtration in tough conditions, helping to reduce maintenance requirements and downtime. A 50% fuel level marker on the petrol tank provides a quick visual reference for more efficient refuelling.

Practical Features for Everyday Use

Access to the oil pump control has been improved, allowing operators to adjust oil flow on the job using a standard combination tool.

The MS 400.1 C-M is supplied with a light 06 guide bar and 1.6 mm full-chisel chain. For easier sharpening, STIHL’s optional Hexa chain system offers fast, precise sharpening using a patented hexagonal file designed to match the tooth profile.
